Loved Sizzle's idea - I'm about to go to a conference with 999 other people.  I am but a tadpole in the blogging world.  Not even a tadpole.  I'm just a gleam in the daddy frog's eye.

1. I bought new bras for this conference.  The straps don't slip.  This is BIG.  I mean, this is big news, not big boobs, unfortunately.
2. I love San Francisco with the passionate passion of a thousand suns.  I'm trying to move there.  For so many reasons. 
3. Due to an unreasonable fit of temper, I quit my TypePad blog, and started a new one with Blogger.  Which resulted in the longest URL in the history of Blogville.  I think it would be kinder to provide the link, Me 'n My Laptop, rather than show it on this page.  There's only so much room.  This also caused a big problem with getting my cards on time, but it is done.  I paid extra for fast shipping - 7 to 14 days.  They got here in THREE days.  I want my money back.
4. I blog about daily life with 4 pets, having Multiple Sclerosis, pretending I don't have MS, and daily pictures of the pets.  I'll get on that "daily" any day now.  I also take pictures of Volkswagon Bugs, and Hearts.
5. Some of my readers seem to believe my dogs can talk.  I have no idea why they think this. 
6. My Halfway Honey bought me my first laptop, cause he didn't want me to be the only one at a blogging conference without a laptop.  I will be the one tearing my hair out cause Vista doesn't act much like Windows ME at all. 
7. He's also paying for my private room.  See why I like San Francisco?  He lives there.
8. He's not the reason I want to move.  Prepare for some sick sick love for a city that's gonna drop into the ocean when the BIG ONE hits.  Oddly, I want to experience an earthquake.  Told you it's sick. 
9. I'm coloring my gray roots for this conference, and then I'm gonna let it go gray.  My younger sister has gorgeous gray hair, and mine will look the same.  Only better. 
10. I love my dogs.  Walking them got me healthy again.  Not walking them has got me over-weight again.  Damn dogs. 
11. I live in a tiny 4 room apartment.  Kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom.  I have 2 dogs, Muttin/Jeff, and 2 cats Barf 'n Hiney.  I have to be nice to the mean landlord because she lets me have all four. 

This is me.  Pre-Teeth.  I photo-chopped the Christmas tree hanging on the wall behind me.  The dogs won't be with me at Blogher08 in SAN FRANCISCO, so I may not stand out in the crowd of 1000 bloggers, but I'll work on shining the gleam in the daddy frog's eye.

However... I will be bringing my secret boyfriend ... it's time our secret was brought out in the open.  We'll be available for pictures.

Pocono Raceway

Much blog businss to take care of today.  First, the race today is at the Michigan International Speedway, in Brooklyn Michigan.  I've missed the last 2 or 3 races, due to Nascar tricking me and holding the races on Saturday nite, when I am busy with a very busy social life.  Snort. 

This was spose to be last week's picture for the Pocono race.  I started the post and never finished it.  I've been doing alot of that lately.

This is Duke, taken when I was in Spokane a couple weeks ago.  Friend Linda and I had taken Duke and Jeff G to the Spokane River, for a bit of water play.  He loves the water as much as ever, and is so fun to watch.

Lowe's Motor Speedway

Remember the Duke?

Today's race is at Charlotte's Lowe's Motor Speedway.  Jeff has struggled all day, running 13th for the moment.

I found this pic from a couple years ago - Duke's in Spokane with SonOne.  I'm going to go babysit him, leaving Tuesday or Wednesday and spend 5-7 days there.  I'm going to try to get a referral to a arthritis specialist in Spokane, as the only one here has a 6 month waiting list.  I've been really depressed this last week cause of the pain, thinking there were new symptoms come to stay, but I think it's more about the "severe" arthritis".  It's been seen in an MRI, in my hips, and the neurologist used the word "severe", but I've not been officially diagnosed. 

I was to babysit my great nephew (2 years old) yesterday, while my sister and niece got perms at the hair shop.  It took a good 10 minutes to gather the courage to get out of bed into the shower that morning, because it hurt so much.  In the shower, it let up a little bit, with the hot water and steam, but that made the MS wake up, and then by the time I left the bedroom, out of the heat, the arthritis set right back in.  What made me finally realize that it's not MS pain, but probably arthritis is the fact that the pain in my hips was also in my shoulders and knees.  Somewhere in my brain a niggling thought arose ... "this is arthritis and it's spreading, cause the shoulders and knees weren't involved last year.  If my remember right .. it was in my hands tho... but my hands are fine cept for the normal MS pain.  So hell.  I don't know what it is. 

Anyways, I can't take much more of this.  I let Ben down by not being able to visit him this trip, and I had to go along with my sister and watch the baby in the hair shop, cause I didn't dare be alone with him.  They got their perms, and I walked about with the baby out in the parking lot, where there was a water fountain, and I let him jump in the puddles.  My mind over matter self told myself that I could move if he was actually in danger, but I really don't know if I can fool myself like that again.  Luckily, the parking lot was empty and there wasn't any reason I would have to save his life, unless a meteorite fell from the sky on him, or he choked on a pebble ... or a stupid teenager came peeling into the parking lot, showing off his wheely skills to his passengers ... or the back-hoe tractor suddenly started all by itself and stalked us... or he fell in the fountain.  There was that.  Hmm.  Oops.

Point is, I let Ben down by deciding not to visit him this trip, and I almost had to tell my sister that I couldn't watch the baby.  I HATE my life being dictated by weather temperature, and how many covers on top of me, or the weather being 80 by day, and 40 by nite.  I'm going to Spokane because it's my son, (and Duke!), and I don't have to put on any manners when the pain is bad.  Pretending I'm okay takes sooo much energy, and SonOne will be gone most of the days, so me and Duke can handle the pain together, and I can be a bitch all I want if need be.  The older I get, the less patience I have for this crap.  I love Ben, and I love to visit San Diego, but he and I have a love-hate relationship when it comes to understanding the subtleties that come with me being me.  (Wasn't that a nice way of putting it?  Ben?)  Plus, it's just too hot in San Diego.  Besides that, I'm still mad at him for something he doesn't even know I'm mad at him for.  Mad at Jacob's doctors indeed. 

I wish I could say GreenishLady is gonna be sorry she's busy visiting Paris andwill probably miss this post.

Despite being determined to make GreenishLady rue the day she told me she didn't read the racing/Jeff Gordon posts by saving my most brilliant and witty writing for these posts ... it ain't happening.  Partly because that wicked Nascar throws in a race on a Saturday every so often, without telling me, so I'm caught by surprise when I'm shooting the remote at the TV, looking for the Kentucky Derby (because I am a well-rounded racer of many ... species?  Diversity?) only to stumble on "GENTLEMEN.  Start.  Your.  Engines" and cussing because you hadn't yet taken the Gordon picturefor the week, so were unprepared to post with any wit whatsoever - much less present the beloved pictures of my man - well, this sentence is so running on, I don't know how to stop it, so I'm just gonna do so by using a period.  (.)

Sigh.  Don't like short-track racing anyways, but here's Richmond.  Jeff isn't doing any good again today.  I'm thinking that wife of his is the problem.   Must be.  Can't think of any other reason.  Haven't paid much attention to how Johnson and Dale Jr. are doing because ... well.  Because my house stinks. 

It smells like there's something dead in here.  Or else it's the broccoli in the freezer.  When it comes to stink, spoiled brocolli ranks right up there in being one of the worst stinks.  But since my beloved cat/s like to bring me dead animals of the rodent and/or the feathered variety, I can't with any assurance say the current stink is kitchen related.  But it's bad enough to make me want to leave the apartment, which is a problem cause the RACE IS ON.  Grrr.  Then I feel guilty, because what kind of Nascar fan am I, if I can be irritated by a little stink going on during the viewing of the race?  Not much of one, is all I can say.

Talledega

Oh yes, I had a good time.  I should have mentioned that no matter how angry I might be with SFM ... he'll say something so outrageous and it's usually pretty raunchy ... I cannot help laughing my fool head off.  And that gets us talking like humans again.  I tried to make this little spat last longer than usual tho - when normally I'd just go with his flow. 

... hmmm.  "Go with his flow" ... boy if that's not a perfect segway for a PMS or Aunt Flo comment.  Unfortunately, I can't come up with a thing. 

But I have a good excuse ... the Nascar race is on.  Talledega is my number 2 favorite track. 

Lordy.  Lap 18 or so?  Major crash avoided - two drivers could have caused the "Big One", as Talledega is famous for.  But they managed to save it, and it was amazing to watch.  '

I gotta post this - Jeff is 2nd right now, and he needs my full attention.

I'm tempted to just skip writing my normal, facinating I Love Jeff Gordon posts this morning because ... I FEEL SO DAMN GOOD TODAY!

I took my meds and .... they're working.

It's almost as if Pain plays a game with me.  It fights and fights with me, until finally, I'm practically on my knees, crying "uncle", I give up, let me just die ... and then once I do that ... Pain lets go. 

Odd. 

Must go now - cannot waste this feeling good on stupid Jeff Gordon posts.

(Altho, he did start on the pole this morning, and had the fastest car till something bad happened - while I was in the bathroom staring at the pain meds, willing them to work, so I missed it.  So he went to the back of the field, but has worked his way back up to 6th so far, with about 380 laps to go)

Bristol Motor Speedway, But There's A Special Note for GreenishLady

I'm having a hard time posting this, seeing as how one of my favorite readers was not enamored of my darling passion.  Sniff.  I'll get over it.  And plow on.  Move forward.  Carry on.  I'm just going to have to add some fascinating writing of OTHER stuff on these here racing posts.  That'll teach her.  She may miss something vital, like ... moving to SF.  Or getting married.  Or laid.  Hee! 

Today's race is at the short track in Bristol ... somewhere.  Tennessee?  Yes.  Bristol Motor Speedway.  Darrel Waltrip, one of the commentators, has laryngitis.  It's kinda funny, as he's the most boisterous one.  One hundred sixty thousand spectators.  LOVE to be there. 

Everything I've touched today has gone wrong.  When one of those things is coloring my hair ... not a good thing.  I haven't dared to look in the mirror yet.  I didn't go to sleep till 6am this morning.  Woke up at 10am.  Loaded up the computer, and it froze AGAIN.  Race started and I couldn't find any of my Gordon pictures in the files.  Found them.  Computer froze.  AGAIN.  Tried to take new Gordon pictures, battery in camera are dead.  Colored hair.  Found Gordon files.  Took a shower.  There's a braided rug in the tub - I wash them in the shower cause I'm afraid it'll fall apart in the washer.  Looked down and realized the rug was sitting in brown water, from the hair dye.  Ooops.  Ran out of hot water with conditioner still in my hair.  Didn't get to shave my legs.  Missed a call from SanFranMan.  Called him back.   He didn't answer.  Posted Gordon pic.  Under great distress because of what GreenishLady said last week.  Sniff.

Atlanta Motor Speedway

Today's race brought to you via the Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Click to see track details.  It's irritating when someone asks me how long the track is, or how many seats there are, or what's the incline in Turn 4.  I'm not a walking Nascar encyclopedia for heck's sake.  Sheesh.  You'd think I was an obsessed fan or something. 

Me and Jeff Gordon worked out together when I visited a friend who goes to Curves.  He and I ... we're that close that I can sweat around him.

SanFranMan text-ed me this morning "Are you ready for racing?"  It's so exciting to know I've got another convert to Nascar.   First Ben, now SFM.  It's amazing what on can do with one's feminine wiles.  Unlike Ben, SFM has the courtesy of liking MY drivers rather than that Whiny Tony Stewart.  Hmph.

Don't worry, Jeff.  Feminine wiles is just a term for batting eyes" in a beguiling manner. 

I'm organizing my life today so I can start working out at Snap tomorrow.  You'd be surprised what an effort it is to organize my life.  It's no minor detail, my life.

PS.  I can be excused for not posting the statue last week, since I was at SonOne's house, babysitting the Duke.  I knew he had down-graded from the 52-inch plasma TV, as they were watching too much TV when they should have been studying.  What he failed to mention, or I failed to comprehend - he also got rid of cable.  No cable TV.  It was inconceivable, but I survived.

You thought I forgot, huh.  Dream on.  You KNOW I have a cracker jack memory firing on all eight  six  four cylinders. 

I spent ALL day at Wheelie's yesterday, watching the race commentary for most of the day, as the race was rained on, cautioned to death, and rained on again.  I finally called the race, and switched the channel, only to flip back to make sure they listened to me - and they were off the air.  Later, I tuned in to see when they'd be started again on Monday (today), only to find out that they hadn't called it officically, they were going to restart the race at 1am.  That's one hour after midnight.  That's a very long day for drivers who are driving up to 180 miles an hour!  Idiot Nascar.  So said I to the television, and once again they listened to me, as 5 minutes later, they decided not to restart until 1pm on Monday (still today). 

That's not the only call I made that they listened to - I think Jeff is finally going to believe I know what I'm talking about, and they're going to start giving me a crew radio so that I can help more from now on. 

So here it is, Monday, and the race is pretty much being run on pitt road, because of all the cautions.  Whoever has the fastest pit stops, and leaves the pitt road first is doing good.  My man Gordon is running great, having led most of the laps yesterday, and he's in the lead right now with 70 laps to go.  Dale Jr. is 41 laps down - got hit early in the race.  I want him to do good.

So for the record, people, who are we rooting for this year?  As always, Jeff Gordon.  Jimmie Johnson.  Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Here, I'll say it again ...

It's the 50th anniversary of the running of the Daytona 500.  Hmmm.  And here I am ... 50 years old.  This could be a good omen. 

The drama this race is the fact that Dale Earnhardt Jr. left his father's stable and joined the Hendrick's team, with drivers Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson, and Casey Mears.  Casey Mears is hardly worth a mention, but I feel like I'm back in school, writing a report, and I'll get thumped by Nascar police if I don't have all the facts. 

Without a doubt, Gordon and Johnson are super stars, and so is Earnhardt.  Junior hasn't won ... umm hardly at all in the last two years - letting down his father's legacy, (7 time Nascar champ), but also just not up to his own personal standards.  He is a great driver, and by winning the Bud shoot-out last weekend, in a Hendrick car, rather than a DEI car ... may show that he simply did not have the right equipment underneath him - he's got to hold some sort of record for crashes and DNF's in the last couple of years. 

It's big news behind the scenes too, for those of us interested in the "drama" factor.  When Dale Sr. died in the Daytona 500 on Feb 18, 2001, his race empire went to his wife, Teresa, who is NOT Junior's mother.  Dale Sr. wasn't the best father in Juniors early years, pretty much not knowing each other very well until Jr. turned 16, when he started racing himself.  They became much closer as the years went by.  Last year, Teresa wouldn't give the controlling share of the company to Junior and his sister, nor would she let him keep his number #8 when he decided to leave.  The family were millionaire's several times over before Dale Sr. died, but she made them even richer by selling Earnhardt Sr., and Jr. merchandise to a whole new level. 

Something I didn't know until I googled Teresa - the first race she won as a team owner was the Daytona 500, Feb 18, 2001 ... with Michael Waltrip as her driver ... the same race that her husband was killed in. 

Chubby Checker for the before race entertainment?  Singing "The Twist".  Boy, talk about 50 years old.  Checker?  Hahaha ... for the checkered flag, perhaps.  Then some old guy with gray hair singing "Taking It To The Track Streets".  And I have heard of Cool and the Gang, singing "Celebration", but still doesn't strike me as "Nascar". 

Ahhh.  Brooks and Dunn.  That's more like it.  Singing "Hard Work'in Man" with the lyrics 'breaking loose from this ball and chain".  Hee.  Dale Junior from his wicked stepmother, perhaps?  Shame on me.  Junior always stuck up for her in the press, cause she did get a bad rap with the whole world assuming she's the wicked stepmother, and so I never thought too negatively of her.  Not until she wouldn't let Dale Jr. take his #8 car number with him to the new team.  Both his father and his grandfather have had that number in the past.  Seems like she could let him have something of his family's legacy.

Three more races to go.  Gordon is still first in the Championship, but not by much.  Jimmie Johnson is close behind.  Today's race is at the Texas Motor Speedway. I almost can't stand to watch it.  He's sooo close. 

Today's Plan:  Unpack, find something of someone else's that I lost which is fairly important, pack, make list of things that have to be done before Wednesday, including dropping in at the kennel a couple of times to make sure they've got the heat on.  They didn't the day I was there cause it was warm and sunny, but they were working on the radiant heat that warms the cermet floor.  There was also regular heat, and a wood stove.  I'm hoping they won't be busy, so I can put their crate in a larger kennel.  The crate is their security. 

Also have to bring the kittens home, have dinner with Wheelie, and make a list.  Did I mention that?

Yes, it is Sunday.  Yes, the Nascar race in Atlanta is on.  I'm sitting in the only room that doesn't have a TV.  I've got 3 TV's on, so basically it's surround sound.  Kinda awesome.

So I know my fans are wondering where the heck is my Jeff Gordon?  That Ben so thoughtfully sent to me, when the other one ... hit on hard times.  (As in he was dropped from the 3rd story onto the cement pavement).  It's there - I promise.

Martinsville

Today's race is at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia.

I'm in no mood to blog today, as I've discovered I've been duped.  There is no Internet at Wheely's house.  She hasn't learned her computer or Internet yet, so it looks like she quit paying the bill in August. 

And she KNOWS that I agreed to babysit her kitten, thinking I could do my blogging from there.  She KNOWS that I expected it to be there.  Grrrrr.

Gordon and Johnson are dominating the race.  161 laps to go, and Gordon is leading.  I think he's lead in laps too. 

I'm here at home, hurrying over so I could post the picture because I know how much YOU ALL appreciate it.

Fine, figures my mother would rat me out.  Sis is only 45.  She just ACTS like the older sister. 

Coming soon.  A blog about ring tones.  Owls.  Boys.  I guess at my age, I should use 'men' instead of 'boys'.  USE men?!  Hahahaha.  I so funny.  Me using them, rather than being used - that's a switch.  We're all grown-ups here, tho, right?  Of course right. 

I took Barf & Hiney to Wheely's house, and they're doing just fine.  It's not as frustrating as I thought it would be - that pet door. 

Her kitten, KitKat, can get thru, but my dogs are blocked.  Barf and Hiney have no idea what a pet door is, so at this point they haven't discovered it yet.  They spook easy, so the washer and dryer right next to the door is pretty handy for scaring them out of the laundry room.  KitKat growls at my kittens, and they just look at him like "hmmmm ... we'd play if you'd play".  They LOVE all the space - the favorite past-time so far is racing me down the hall every time I walk down it.  That and watching all the bird feeders out the windows.  Wait till I refill the squirrel feeders - maybe I catch it with the camera.

Muttin with frosting on her nose this morning.  Somebody spilled cake in the parking lot. 

Trying to lick it off before anybody sees her.  It's embarrassing to have frosting on your nose, thankyouverymuch.

The 52-inch Plasma TV?  Makes everyone look wide.  As in fat.  Fat faces especially.

Well dang.  I missed last week's race at Talledega, and I just heard that he said that was the biggest win ever, because he only lead for HALF a lap.  Meaning that he didn't run in front until the last lap, and then only the last half of that lap!  How exciting that would have been!

Tonite's race in at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina.  I think it's in North Carolina. 

And guess who's leading with 32 laps to go? 

Uh huh.

Today, I woke up in a fairly happy mood.  Despite having babysat till the wee hour between midnite and 1am.  Well, and then there's the being as happy as one can be when one hates where they live.

But then I opened the door to take the dogs out. 

So what do I do?  After first getting a feeling of vomit in my mouth, I then burst into tears.  I had the oddest feeling of failure.  Last year at this time, I had sworn I'd never spend another winter here.

Update: I wrote the above words yesterday.  I couldn't take it any further than that.

I called SFM yesterday to cry about the snow, but I threw in the kitchen sink too, just to make it more fun for him.  I wanted it to be more fun for him because of the joy I get when I hear that patient, patronizing tone of voice that tries to pretend he's not thinking I'm insane for crying about it snowing in Idaho.  So not only was I crying cause it snowed in Idaho, but also because ... well, I just won't go into it.  It's bad enough knowing that the snow can send me over the edge.  And I'm disgrace to women all over the world, because I quickly threw in ... "It must be my period is gonna come". 

I couldn't sleep after baby-sitting last nite, which is becoming quite a problem, btw, but I finally fell asleep about 7am this morning till about 10am, having set my alarm for the Nascar race in Talledegah - my favorite track.  Much to my disgust, my local station decided not to air the air till tonite at 10:30pm.  Way to ruin what was 1 of 2 reasons for living thru yesterday, only to find out that the reason why you chose to live was because SURELY the fucking snow would be gone by today, so just hang in there chickie, I told myself.  It was not gone, the race wasn't on, and I had woken myself up for no damn reason. Well, cept for the 2nd reason, which is those damn pets of mine.  They needed out to pee. 

And then my dear little old lady friend woke me up from the nap that I was using to escape the fact that it snowed 6 inches yesterday and it wasn't going away, to tell me that I must be in 7th heaven because Jeff Gordon had won the race today!!!  She was so ticked to have come across that little tidbit while she was channel surfing her home decorating shows, that I couldn't bust her bubble how I had purposely not looked up the race results because I wanted to wait to see the race when it aired later on tonite. 

So since I know the outcome of the race already, here's my closest version of a checkered flag for Jeffie.

Since my Gordon BobbleHead is at Wheel's house (cause he wanted to meet her), I'll have to make do with the radio car again.  Duke is becoming an avid fan, as you can see by his kissing the 24 car.  Muttin/Jeff are seated sedately on the couch, watching the race, altho the kittens are putting on quite a racing show themselves by impersonating cars that go 200 miles an hour thru the apartment.  It's really un-nerving because the space is small, and when they run out of floor, it's up the wicker shelves, or over the computer to the window sill, then to the back of the couch - full speed.  Jeffrey forgets himself and joins the Chase (haha the Chase) only to realize he's in the way. 

My goal today is to clean all surfaces.  This wicker table serves as coffee table but the keyboard ends up on there, along with all the computer/desk junk that accumulates.  The kittens believe I cleared it JUST for them ...

Oh, and here's today's Sappy Sunday.  Sappy cause I LOVE Nascar, and I do hearts.

She:  Yea ... you missed it ... ahead of time by about a month, so think of it as thinking ahead!

Sappy Sunday 2 and Loudon, and damn animals complicate my life

As it's Sappy Sunday, the day I'm spose to post a heart pic, I decided to combine my love for Jeff Gordon (and Ben because he's enabled me to continue with the bobble head pics on race day) with the heart pic. 

The race is at ... Loudon, in New Hampshire. 

I've got a massive headache, probably induced by spending 40 hours of the last 48 in bed.  A combination of pain and depression, no doubt.  But NASCAR is on right now, and it looks like a beautiful fall day outside. 

SFM left messages all over the place yesterday, telling me that there's no animals allowed on their lease, so moving in with them is out.  Dammit.  I just now read the email sent to me by the other room mate, and she seemed to imply that even tho there is no animals allowed, SFM already lives there ... and he's animal enough?  Hahaha.  See, I told you she doesn't like anybody!

And yes ... I've started drinking today at 12:30pm.  I plan on drinking myself under the table today.

Fontana

Since the Gordon bobble head is broken, and I seem to have mis-parked the little Gordon car, we'll have to make do with my socks.  I took a picture of them ON my feet, but the number then read upside down and backwards, which will not do at all. 

The race is in California tonight, in Fontana.  Where it's 115 degrees.  People.  One hundred and fifteen degrees.  So let's pose a hypothetical question ... say I had tickets for the race.  Would I go?  Could I go?

Today's race is at Watkin's Glen in New York.  It's a road course, which means it's a squiggly tracks, with both right and left turns - not just a cirlce/oval track where they go one way.  Jeff's won 4 times at this track.  Still leads in points too.

The best laid plans to clean house, watch the race, catch up on blogs were all for naught

Is this picture telling you that when I turned on the TV to watch the race, I remembered that I had to post the now familiar Jeff Gordon statue picture - a VERY popular feature of this here blog?  And then I remembered with laser sharp clarity that I didn't have my camera near me.  In fact, it was as un-near me as the stars and Mars and the moon.  I left my $350.00+ camera at the race track last nite.  I knew exactly where it was.  I knew not even to bother checking around the apartment or in the car. 

So the picture is saying I spent the first hour and a half of the race headed for the local track - a 40 minute drive in the heat of the day, hoping against hope that no one had taken my camera.  When I got back there were 90 laps to go, and I've no idea what when on the first 110 laps.  It was very unsettling, not knowing  where my Jeffy was in the race. 

Much like Duke is unsure of what me and Jeff Gordon are doing behind his back. 

Race Day

Race today at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina.  I can't concentrate on it cause I finally feel good and want to take advantage of it by cleaning the house, do some re-arranging of some furniture, and tame the kittens. 

Duke is moping around for some reason.  I think he's addicted to water, and pouts when he doesn't get it each day.  In teaching him how to be a proper Black Lab, I've created a monster. 

Wicker furniture is all fine and good and all, but daaayyum - those kittens are climbing fools.  I've decided to keep them both because they're both cause they're both soo cute and funny and adorable and they wiggled into my heart.  The main it is how they are with the dogs.  It's just fascinating to watch all the personalities.

Controversy and Talent

It's been a big week for my man - he had a baby girl with that other woman. 

His team, as well as Jimmie Johnson's team were put to the back of the pack because they had illegal fenders.  So they started 42 and 43.  Of course the talking heads made a big deal of it, making a crisis out of it when there is none.  But NASCAR has yet to fine them too, which will probably happen Monday or Tuesday. 

Despite starting last ... Gordon is now first with 30 some laps to go.  It's a road course track in Sonoma, California.  Next door to San Francisco, by the way.  Jeff is known for his road track abilities.

Lowe's Cola-Cola 600

Gordon's out with a crash, Johnson crashed too, but finished 10th I think.  Six hundred miles today, the longest race of the season. 

I was over at WheelChairLady's house all day, organizing her laundry room and pantry area.  Tomorrow it's dirt day - the dirt won't come to us, so we're going to the dirt, for her raised garden beds. 

I'm not really sure what's going on with me, but something definitely is.  I really need to slow down some - I've been going at a frentic pace for days now, and won't let myself thing.  Which is not like me, because as we all know, I am a Great Thinker. 

Right?  Of course right.

As previously mentioned, our local races started last weekend.  Sister and I counted laps, as always.  And as always, she was mean to me.  Let me explain.  In detail.

First, she was late.  That's expected.  She has time management issues.  Luckily, she followed my instructions by calling me when she left her house, so at least I knew that she was actually on her way.  Late, but hey.  Then she yelled at me at the copy store when I had a better solution to getting the lap sheets copied.  We did it her way cause it's easier just to give in.  And we were late. 

Of course, being the contrary person that she is, THEN she decided to go UNDER the speed limit for the majority of the drive.  An argument ensued about how long it takes to drive from the Maverick to the track.  I won.  It's no wonder she has time-management problems - she doesn't know how long it takes to drive from her house to town!  Wouldn't that be the first time-management skill to nail down?    Would that be stating the obvious? 

When we got to the front gate, she lied to the money taker, and told him that I was a spectator, so I had to pay $10 to get in!  Unbelievable. 

When it was time to announce for the drivers to go to the Drivers Meeting, she unplugged the microphone, which somehow broke the electricity, and we were powerless for the show.  No announcing, no lights, no cooking in the hamburger cooking place.  The beer and cokes went warm.  The crowd took it out on me!  I almost got stoned - by 55 whole  spectators.  (Yes, only 55 paid spectators.  Ridiculous, but that's another post.)  Eventually, we started the race and the power did come back on about half-way thru, thanks to ME saving the day by calling the power company.  Which no one had thought of doing.  Which my sister YELLED at me for thinking of and doing so!  Honestly, the trials I bear.  But I do it for you, dear readers, so I'll have something to blog about.  It's the least I can do. 

The Modifieds had 17 cars in their class.  Which is just great, but a bit much for the first race out - we're not in the groove of counting quite yet.  There's a certain rhythm we have to get in order to write the car numbers down as they cross the line every time they go around.  We were out of practice.  Well, one of us was out of practice.  My lap sheets were stellar, but ... one of us was not.  And that's all I have to say about that.

In fact, I better stop now.  I have a feeling my ass is grass.

Talladega

Today's race is at Talladega, my most favorite track.  Last week, when Gordon won, he tied Dale Earnhardt Sr's of career of 76 wins.  In tribute, he carried the #3 flag around for his victory lap.  People in the stands thru their beer bottles, etc. down on the track at him as he drove by.  Some fans just didn't think it was right.  In the winner's circle, Dale Jr., met him and congratulated him.  During the media interviews, Dale said it was a cool thing to do, and said it wasn't right what the fans did - Gorden can't win for losing.  In the garage, the races and crews all thought it was a classy thing to do.  Carrying the #3 flag was in honor of the memory of Dale Sr and anytime a flag representing whatever it might be is carried around for a victory lap, it's a huge tribute.  Junior is right - Gordon can't win for losing - if he'd carried his own flag, the fans would have been upset too, saying he was too big for his britches, not honoring the #3.  Gordon gets as many boo's as he does the kudos for some reason.  Possibly cause he's so good for being so young, and he has broke alot of records, even closing in on Earnhardt's 7 championships.  Race fans tend to be very passionate about their favorite driver (altho I wouldn't know about that, I'm pretty light-hearted about my driver) and don't like to see their driver's records being broken. 

I think Dale Earnhardt Sr was a great driver because he drove instinctively, using the air in a way no other driver has been able to consistently do.  Gordon is a great driver strategy-wise in a way other drivers haven't been able to do consistently. 

Gordon got the pole for today, and is leading in points overall.  Darrell Waltrip, one of the announcers and former racer thinks Gordon is going to break all the records before he's done with his race career. 

Talladega is known for "the big one".  Always a huge crash.  Was a spectacular one yesterday in the Busch - the link will probably go away, but click on the "spectacular Talladega crash" to see it if you're so inclined.  Driver Kyle Busch walked away from it without even a wobble. 

Love Sundays when there's a Nascar race.  So relaxing.  The house is clean, the plants are watered, the dogs are peed and pooped and life is ... okay.

Last Update:  last 8 laps, Gorden went from the middle of the pack to the front, caution is called just after he took first place.  Last two laps, a shootout, nerve-racking for fans who are sitting on couches.  Green flag is waved, he pulls ahead, Stewart got spun out (hee!) and the checkered flag waves - Gordon first, Johnson second, and Dale Jr was fifth.  GREAT race.  And Gordon pulls further ahead in the points.  Yup, yup, yup.

Happy Birthday to Dale Earnhardt Sr.  He would have been 56 years old today.

Phoenix

Phoenix International Speedway - one mile track, a super speedway.  Gordon's in 2nd place about halfway thru the race, looking good.  Stupid Stewart is first, unfortunately. 

I must be hormonal today, cause I'm eating half the house.  And speaking of stupid ... I was wondering why I'm in pain.  Would it be, could it be cause I forgot to take the pain meds, hmmm?  Duh.

Muttin:  Duh yourself, duh.

Me:  Shutup Mutt.  I'm in no mood for it.

Muttin:  (gulp)  Yes'm.

Jeffrey & Duke:  (staring at her) 

Jeffrey:  Wow.

Duke:  Yea.

Jeff Gordon got the pole, and is currently in first place.  He's first place in points too, which bodes well for The Chase.  The Chase is the Super Bowl of racing, and commences the last 10 races.

Los Vegas

Today's race is in Las Vegas.  Today, in Idaho, it's cloudy and damp. 

Jeff's car is my favorite color of green today!  Must be promoting Mountain Dew today, since one of his sponsors in the Busch division is Pepsi. 

I swear I will write more tonite.  And post a puppy pic.

Jimmy Johnson just won, and Jeff was second!  Jeff's a winner twice, sorta, since he owns the 48 team.

California Speedway

Below is a shot of some of the furniture I'm earning by helping the Wicker Lady pack up her shop.  The headboard (and frame) and there's 2 nite stands.  More pictures of other stuff to come.

NASCAR NASCAR NASCAR!  There's nothing better to do on a Sunday.  I gather my apple juice, a blanket, and lay down on the couch.  Also open my Yahoo IM chat so that Ben can mock Jeff Gordon, and I can trash Tony Stewart.  Today's race is in Fontana, California, about an hour away from Hollywood. 

Life couldn't be better. 

Cept for the farting dog at my feet.

And the back of the shop is also full of shit stuff.  After about day 5, it all becomes shit.  I know, cause I moved a floral shop, and then packed it up when we went out of business.  Did I already say this?

As you can see, Jeff and I were very busy.

Ahem.  More later, I need to compose myself.  Daytona 500 starts today - NASCAR begins again.  Some of us seem to have been busy during the off season.  Why is the girlfriend always the last to know?  Sob.  He's having a baby.

Life begins anew...

I finally figured out that the rising cresendo roaring going on in my head is the realization that NASCAR begins this month!  I know!  Calm down yourself!

Atlanta Motor Speedway

Atlanta Motor Speedway today, and Dale Jr., Stewart, Gordon, and Johnson - the favorites are all in close contention. 

And then a blind spot in the sun caused Gordon to get hit from behind.  Had to pit early, several times, to fix the damage, but stayed on the lead lap, thanks to a long caution.  Is now up to ninth, and is marching forward.

Martinsville

It's a short track today at Martinsville. 

Oops.  I started this a couple hours ago, and forgot to post it.  Have to post it before the race is over. 

Gordon doing good, thanks to a smart pit strategy that put him from 21st to 3rd.

Lowe's Motor Speedway

Fun track, big wrecks, Lowe's Motor Speedway is under the lights tonite.  Jimmie Johnson had dominated this track, having won five races out of seven.  He needs a win in order to get back to the top of the championship contention.  Jeff's doing pretty good.  I think he's third right now, with just over a 100 laps to go.

It would be really cool  if the two of them were at the end of the race, one and two.   Gorden owns the Lowe's team.  They'd be helping each other up till about oh.... 30-40 laps to go, and then it's go for the win - who gives a damn who owns who.

Talladega in the Fall

One of three of my favorite tracks.  Famous for either being caution-free OR "the Big One", meaning biiigg crashes.  Gordon just got put out by a crash.   Is now down to 8th in points for the Championship run.  A bit discouraged, he is, as he may be mathetically unable to win the Championship.  Dale Earnhardt Sr., won 10 times on this track.  Junior's won 5 times, Gordon, 4 times.  Average speeds 190pmph.  Track record is held by Bill Elliot, always voted at the fan's most favorite nice guy racer, at 212mph. 

So, I've got to root for Jimmie Johnson, or Dale Jr.  And it's 7 laps to go, and Junior's in front. 

I wanna go that fast.

Kansas Speedway

Race today at Kansas Speedway.  Jeff Gordon is 2nd in points right now.  He's good at this track too, having won twice ? since 2001. 

It's just about the right temperature for me.  Nice breeze. 

A walk in the park this morning.  I always let my dogs loose here, cause there's lots of room to run.  They think they're in heaven.  You can see them in the right side of the picture between the first two trees.  Oddly enough, Muttin's really good about coming back when I call.  Jeffrey saunters back slowly, as if to tell me and Muttin that we can't boss everything. 

The pain is coming back - the miracle pills aren't working as good.  Hard to fall asleep with the pain, and then when I do, wake up about 3 hours later.  Hate going back to the doctor cause at what point are they going to tell me there's nothing more they can do.  There ARE other meds, but they are notorious for weight gain.  I've lost another 6 pounds since coming back from San Francisco.  I'm shooting for another 10 in order to be smack dab in the middle of the weight charts that say what I should be for my height and frame.  Altho... I COULD fudge a bit, and go for the numbers for a 'large' frame, since I'm on the borderline between medium and large. 

I've created a monster. 

And it's hilarious when I close the window, and they jump up there and crash into the window.  Well, not so hilarious, but damn.  It's funny. 

Jeff Gordon got turned into the grass in order to miss a crash, and went down to 39th.  He's marched up to 6th place right now, and has a very good car today.  Johnson, who is in first said he can see Gordon coming.  Love. 

And I'm insane. 

 

Both me and the dogs need to go faster when we walk.  This is my solution.  Only... I've never rollerbladed before.  I had to take out the bootie part that cushions your feet cause I couldn't stand them.  I can barely stand wearing a pair of socks, and may try barefoot next time.  As it is, when I take the damn things off, the sensation of them still being on lasts for hours.  Hate.  I looked up the calorie burn rate... twice as much as mere walking.  Yesterday, I practiced up and down the hall with my walker.  I was laughed at.

Jeff Gordon made the Chase, so he gets to compete for the championship.  Last Sunday, at SanFranMan's - we left before the race was over, cause I couldn't stand to watch it.  When we left, it was looking like he wouldn't make the chase. 

The top ten (in points) drivers are the only ones who can compete for the championship.  There are 43 racers for each race.  There are 10 races left.  Say... if the driver who's in 11th place (Tony Stewart hee!) won the next 10 races, he wouldn't win the championship, because he didn't qualify for the Chase.  I wish there was a more consise way to explain this.  It's like the first 26 races are the play-offs in football. 

He is amoungst the onions. 

The garden has not been a pleasure the last few days.  The weatherman keeps saying it will freeze each nite, so I cover my 16 tomato plants with blankets.  But then it rains instead.  Two nites now.  Then today, I dried all the blankets by hanging them up in the bathroom and turning on the heat.  Tonite, I covered the tomatoes again, and it started to sprinkle.

Lest we not forget

In lieu of my own Jeff Gordon man, because I forgot to add "Post Jeff Gordon picture to the blog" on my going away list, we'll have to put up with this.  So clever of me to check the schedule to make sure what time it started, and discover it's tonight, rather than the usual Sunday.  Whew.  Who knew what wild and crazy plans we could have come up with on a Saturday nite in Happy Town - but, MUCH better, we'll be staying in to watch the race!  SanFranMan can't wait.  He's trying very hard to be supportive and not roll his eyes.  Guests!  Such a pain in the ass. 

Just to keep letting JG know that San Francisco love hasn't taken away my passionate love devotion to him.  Aad that I'll see him IN PERSON next year at the Fontana race!

Driver's Meeting at Noise Park last weekend

Today's race is in Pocono.  Am in a really shitty mood, and don't know why.  The apartment is a mess, and I feel fat.  I want some pizza.  And chocolate.  And macaroni and cheese in the blue box.  Homemade would be good too. 

I woke up last nite, sat up in a cold sweat, because I'd dreamed my daughter-in-law had been killed in a car crash.  Dreamed my mother called to tell me 'SweetieGirl is dead".  This coming Saturday, she is driving home from Connecticut, so she can start back to school here in her home state.  Wants to be a nutritionist/dietician, and work in a school or someplace with children. 

Hands hurt, feet hurt, don't feel good.

Took him out to the races

My little man got to go to the races last nite.  I must admit to feeling a tad bit foolish asking the driver of #18 if I could take a picture of "Jeff Gordon"  in his car.  He frowned at me, and said "Why not Tony Stewart?"  Of course you know my response to that was to gag. 

This is the weeding project for the day/week.  I need to clear from the right of the dirt boundary there on the left.  So my cantaloupe, watermellon, and cucumbers can grow.  The corn is knee-high.

Chicagoland

The race is on at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois, just outside of Chicago.  Where Oprah lives. 

Don't ask me why there's a toilet sitting outside of our building.  I kind of like it tho.  I could put a big plant on it.  I'll update this after the race.  Hands hurt, not having a good day.  Gotta get the Gordon pic up during the race tho, so I don't jinx my man who just got engaged last week oh yea, I forgot about that, I've blocked it out.  In case you've missed the rest of them...  go here. 

I've discovered a problem with allowing potentials to read my blog.  When I asked someone who his favorite driver was, and he said "Jeff Gordon", did he say it cause it really is his favorite, or because he's read the blog?  And here I thought I was being so clever, telling them to read the blog cause that would handle the 'Do I Tell a Potential Man That I Have MS Now or Later Question'. 

Which reminds me.  Someone asked that I update about VetMan, LabMan, and ... what's his name... oh Nimby.  Will later.  Hands hurt. 

UPDATE: oh my.  Gordon was 2nd, a whole second behind leader and suddenly started to catch up.  Leader Kenseth got spun out, big debate on whether Gordon spun him out on purpose, but it looks like kenseth slowed down, and Gordon tapped him.  Gordon leader, 2 laps to go, but whether he has enough gas or not is NOW the question.  Oh the stress.  Then Kenseth ran out of gas, so he wouldn't have won anyways.  Gordon WINS!!!  And Kenseth, back in 9th place hit the wall hard.  Be interesting to see after the race.  These two have a bit of history, spinning each other out.

A fan just threw a beer bottle at Gordon's car.  As the commentator's just said... low class.  Fans like that don't deserve to be at a Nascar race. 

Two wins in the last 3 weeks.  And of course we see the fiance come up to kiss him.
